Mobile container Bar Pod makes its debut at the 'Big Game'
The Bar Pod with its Schweiss custom made 23 ft. x 8.10 ft. hydraulic designer container door made its debut at this year's "Big Game". The Bar Pods with fast TurboTaps have only been in production for about a year.
Name-brand beverages, including mixed drinks, wine, and soft drinks can now be delivered by TurboTap USA and its sister company, Bar Pods, LLC to locations all over the U.S. and abroad by means of fully contained bars.
Bar Pods have only been in production for about a year for research and construction of prototypes. They made their debut at the Nightclub and Bar Convention last year in Las Vegas. They are a deluxe, all-inclusive, velocity service, waste reducing concession bar for beer, wine, or mixed drinks (or all three in one unit), on tap that can be adapted to customer needs. They are equipped with the TurboTap, a patented retrofit draft beer-dispensing device made from high-grade stainless steel that slips over the end of a standard U.S. beer faucet.
"Michael Manion, CEO of Bar Pods, had an idea of serving very cold beer outdoors in the Las Vegas heat without all of the typical complications that are caused from high temperature. He nailed it, and that idea has evolved into today's Bar Pod," said Terry Oneil, General Manager for TurboTaps and Bar Pods.
The newest Bar Pod has a Schweiss 23.1 ft. x 8.10 ft. one-piece hydraulic side mounted container door on it. You might have even seen people belly up to the Bar Pod at this year's "Big Game". The compact, mount anywhere Schweiss hydraulic pump unit is ideal for these type of containers and when opened the door provides a nice shaded canopy for customers. It opens and closes in a matter of seconds ready for the next day of service or to go on the road to the next fun venue.
"It is an amazing door. I would say that it has lived up to everything we imagined, plus more," said Oneil. When asked what he liked best about the Schweiss product he responded: "5,000 pounds of door opening effortlessly" . . . and the advantage of having a large shaded canopy when open. Oneil said some improvements have been made to the Bar Pod like fancier LED lighting, but the addition of the hydraulic door may be the favorite of them.

Different door styles are available, but Oneil said the hydraulic door is the company preference. Clients who buy them, however, can decide on the door style of their liking.
Bar Pods, LLC currently has two units in their warehouse for display purposes. They plan to build as many as they can sell in the upcoming years - building fleets are their goal. They have offered rental units, but their business model is geared toward sales. And apparently they like the Schweiss hydraulic door so much they potentially at this point want to get two or three more.
As the word got out that Schweiss Doors was producing container doors, they have been manufacturing containers as well as container doors for more and more people. It was just a year ago Schweiss Doors bought a container, cut the sides out and put a hydraulic one piece doors on it and it worked magnificently to give better, safer and easier access to the container. An additional benefit is when the door is closed, it locks weathertight and protects the valuable interior contents that may be stored within the container.

The side-mounted hydraulic Bar Pod door quietly opens and closes within seconds to put the unit into operation or to close and lock down securely for its next venue location trip. Bar Pods can quickly serve beer, wine or mixed beverages to large crowds.
Bar Pods are solid steel-framed structures that can be custom-built with wheels or with fork holes to allow a forklift to place them onto a flatbed trailer. They also have a self-leveling system for use in any location. Standard Bar Pod sizes are 8'6" x 12' or 24' x 12'. Any variation on the standard models is an option.
Bar Pods have R45 grade, quadruple fan-cooled, walk-in coolers with up to 50 half-barrel (15.5 gallon) keg capacity for larger Bar Pods. Walk-ins include self-closing doors and can be opened from the inside. Auto-keg switchers will automatically go to the next keg when the beer runs out.
The "Mixed Drink System" has free-flow, high speed liquor and mixer guns that allow drinks to be made in three seconds. The auto-switching bottle system detects when a bottle is running empty and switches to the next bottle.
Wine System Bar Pods have a bi-level, divided walk-in cooler for proper temperature storage of red and white wines, fast pouring free-flow tap delivery systems and large wine keg capacity.
Bar Pods are available with digital heat and AC climate control, windscreens, internal lighting, programmable POS systems, 1,600 capacity cup dispensers, hot water hand washing sink, abundant under-counter storage spaces, independent service entrance door, electric extending shade awning, roll down security windows and ice machine. They can also include security video monitoring systems and much more.
For marketing capabilities, all exterior walls, select interior walls and shade awnings of Bar Pods can be wrapped with your sponsors' logos. Flat Screen TV's and DVD players can run constant product videos.
Since production of Bar Pods began about a year ago, improvements such as the Schweiss hydraulic door and fancier LED lighting have been added. Fully loaded the Bar Pod can serve 6,200 pints of beer and fill a perfect 38 degree pint beer glass in two seconds.
History of the TurboTap
About 15 years ago at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, an engineering student named Matt Younkle was waiting in a long, slow-moving line for a beer and began to think that there had to be a faster, better way to pour a beer. That thinking led to the development and refinement of the TurboTap draft beer tap, the securing of a patent, and by 2004, the start of the company, Laminar Technologies, LLC. Laminar produced and marketed their draft beer tap products for several years with some success, including installations in 28 stadiums and arenas around the country.
One advantage of the hydraulic door is it provides a very nice shaded awning for customers. The Schweiss Hydraulic Door system is very safe and quiet. The compact hydraulic pump can be stored anywhere and opens the door very quickly.

The science of beer drinking is surprisingly evolved
For instance, science has determined that the best serving temperature for most American beers is 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Not 37 degrees or 39 degrees, but 38 degrees. That's how specific and focused the understanding of beer drinking has become.
But keeping your draught beer from becoming too warm is more difficult than you may realize. For instance, if you put a 38 degree keg outside in the hot sun for a few hours, the beer's temperature will rise by 10 degrees; it will take you 10 hours to get the beer back down to "drinking temperature," if you put it in a 36-degree cooler. When beer gets too warm, it can get disgustingly foamy.
TurboTap will save you money

"For a situation where pints are the only alcoholic beverage available, a group of 2,000 people would allow each customer to drink approximately three beers without having to restock the cooler."
Here are just some of the other benefits that the TurboTap offers:
When a draft beer system is delivering too much foam at the tap, bartenders typically pour off that excess foam into the drip tray or let the faucet run until the excess foam clears. That beer foam poured down the drain can represent as much a 25-30% waste. When one considers that a keg contains approximately 125 glasses of beer, that wasted foam represents 31 or more glasses of beer. Doing the math leads you to the conclusion that at $5 per glass, you are losing $155 profit per keg. When you add up the number of kegs you buy each week, month, and year, the lost profit can be staggering. If that 25-30% waste was reduced to 10%, the additional profit could amount to $90 more per keg.
TurboTap pours a perfect pint of draft beer in as little as two seconds and a pitcher in as little as 8.5 seconds. Faster draft pours is another way to say that in a given amount of time (i.e. one minute, one hour, one event, etc.) more beers can be poured.
In one minute you can pour and serve six beers from a conventional tap. With a TurboTap attachment, you could increase the number of pours to 10 beers in one minute, which results in a 40 percent increase in volume. This means that beer lines move faster and customers are likely to spend less time in line and more time enjoying their beers, leading to the possibility that those customers will purchase an additional beer during the event. Additionally, some customers get tired of waiting in long lines and end up leaving the line without having purchased a beer.
