Schweiss Doors Help Dreams Come True
This Canadian pilot took the extra step to fulfill what many had dreamed of for years. He is just one of a few of Schweiss bifold and hydraulic door customers, and Schweiss Doors had a part in making his dream come true.
Originally from Newman, Illinois, where he still has a farm, Steve Riggins and his wife, Ellen, set their sights north to Dryden, Canada. With a love of fishing and hunting, his Cessna 185 floatplane and boat are at the ready, and now he has a new hangar with a Schweiss hydraulic door on it so he can wheel his floatplane and boat right in from the lake in no time at all.
Riggins new hangar is 40 x 50 ft. wide. The Schweiss hydraulic one-piece door on it is 48 ft. wide x 15.5 ft. high. Riggins said he configured the building to meet the specs to carry the Schweiss door. He had some experience with other bifold doors in the past on his farm and at the airport.
“I never had a hydraulic door before, I wanted to try one. Headroom was the main factor in my choosing a hydraulic door. I had a hangar in Dryden with bifolds on each end that came with the building. I have another brand door down on the farm,” he said. “Schweiss is one of the main door companies and I was familiar with them. I helped an area contractor install the door.”
“You’ve got a happy Schweiss door owner that’s living his dream up here in Canada. The remote opener is real handy. If I ordered another door it would have that. We’re going to retire here. That’s why we are here so I can get out and hit all these remote lakes. That’s my dream and I’m living it,” noted Riggins.
